Changes

What’s new.

Zulu is young and changes quickly. This page lists what users notice, newest entries first. Internal rework is left out.

As of:

October 17, 2026

  • “Today” widget for the iPhone home screen, medium and large: the day route with “time to leave,” trips, and free time. A tap on a row opens the event.
  • Offline on iPhone: The app starts with the last state and shows week, day, month, search, and widget without a network. The header then says how old the state is. On the Mac, the app starts faster as a result.
  • Day route: A running event takes over the “Now” row. Short return trips under 30 minutes no longer take a row of their own; dots carry the event’s color.
  • Quick entry: A tap on the day or time chip opens start and end as pickers.
  • This website now has feature, comparison, and help pages, in German and English.

  • iPhone app 1.0: seven-day week with focus column, day with time-to-leave card, month with day list, free-text quick entry, search, “time to leave” notification, landscape, light and dark. Trip there and back separately. Neighboring weeks follow your finger when swiping.
  • Invitations, attendees, and conferences on Mac and iPhone: accept, decline, maybe; see and add attendees; join Google Meet.
  • Formatted descriptions like in Google Calendar: bold, italic, underline, lists, links. With a toolbar above the field on the Mac and an editor above the keyboard on iPhone.
  • Dark theme for Mac and iPhone, following the system by default. Dark app icon on iPhone.
  • Working location transfer: A rule copies working locations from the work calendar into the personal calendar as events, with a template for title, color, and travel time.
  • Calendars appear under their own names; each calendar can be switched in or out of Zulu’s list.

October 15, 2026

  • Zulu’s own look: logo with the grid Z, Atkinson Hyperlegible, slate on paper, magenta only for “now.” Icons by Phosphor.
  • Working location and out of office shown and created like in Google Calendar, including hourly working locations as a line along the column edge.
  • Manual blocking: An event can be blocked in any other calendars from the panel, independent of rules.
  • Free/busy and visibility per event. Overlapping events sit side by side like in Notion Calendar. Travel time blocks carry their event’s color.
  • macOS title bar in the app header, time and duration suggestions like in Notion Calendar.

October 14, 2026

  • Mac app: week and day view with live updates, create, move, copy, and delete events with undo, command menu with search, autosaving panel, series dialogs, keyboard shortcuts like Notion Calendar. As a DMG for Apple Silicon.
  • Rules with name, blocker title, and kind (regular or out of office), preview in the grid, exclusion per event, “from this one on.”
  • Travel time: adjacent travel times merge into one event. Blockers appear as color stripes on the event.
  • Event colors from Google’s palette. View toggles for declined events, travel times, and blockers.
  • Backend: Google sign-in, sync via push and polling, cache, travel time and blockers as automation, daily backup.

Project start with the product concept: a personal calendar for Google Calendar only, controls like Notion Calendar, its own backend for travel time and blockers.
